Beth is a graduate of the Karen Pryor Academy, the premier positive-reinforcement dog training program in the United States.
She is also a Certified Behavior Consultant Canine-Knowledge Assessed (CBCC-KA) and a Certified Professional Dog Trainer-Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA), from the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers. In October of 2022, Maryland's Montgomery County Executive appointed Beth to serve as Behavior Expert on the Animal Services Advisory Committee. The purpose of the Committee is to, in partnership with the Office of Animal Services, advise the County Council and the County Executive on issues pertaining to animal care and welfare, animal rescue, animal fostering and adoption, control of the animal population, animal bite prevention, zoonotic disease transmission, educating the public on safely coexisting with wildlife, best practices for animal shelters now and in the future, recruiting volunteers, and any other issues related to the operation of the County's Office of Animal Services.Â
Beth has extensive animal sheltering experience. She was former director of behavior and training at the Humane Rescue Alliance headquartered in Washington, DC and provided behavior help to the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria for four years as a contractor. Previously, she was behavior specialist at the Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center. Before that, she worked as an animal trainer for the Montgomery County Humane Society.Â
Earlier in her career, Beth was a patient coordinator for renowned behavior veterinarian E. Kathryn Meyer, V.M.D., at the Veterinary Behavior Clinic in Gaithersburg, MD.Â
Beth has also volunteered with the Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary, the Washington Animal Rescue League, and Your Dog’s Friend.

Beth is a mentor for professional dog training students enrolled in the world-renowned Victoria Stilwell Academy. Victoria, a British pet expert best known for starring in and creating the TV series It’s Me or the Dog, is a leader in force-free dog training.
Tara Murtagh, CBCC-KA, CPDT-KA

Tara has a bachelor of science degree from Suffolk University in Boston, MA. She is a Certified Behavior Consultant Canine-Knowledge Assessed (CBCC-KA) and a Certified Professional Dog Trainer-Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA), from the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers. She is also a certified Fear Free Animal Trainer.Â
Tara served as the Behavior Manager for Homeward Trails Animal Rescue and was a member of the Behavior Team at Austin Pets Alive, a large animal shelter in Austin, TX before joining Beth and the team at Dog Latin.
Tara also has experience volunteering at shelters and animal rescues across the country. Working and volunteering in animal shelters has given Tara the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with a variety of different behavior challenges among dogs of all ages, sizes and breeds.Â
When she’s not working, Tara enjoys spending her free time with her husband and three rescue pitbulls, Junebug, Boo and Squeak.
